dedication of new firehouse this Saturday

Mayor Daley will be part of the official ribbon cutting on the 49th Ward's NEW FIREHOUSE this Saturday 1/10, 10:00 a.m., at Engine Company 102, 7340 N. Clark (across from Touhy Park). Refreshments will be served and tours of the new facility will be provided. Bring your kids!

This 15,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility will replace the nearly 100-year-old firehouse, located at 1723 W. Greenleaf. The new facility contains a fitness center for the firefighters and a circular drive, which will enable the emergency vehicles to exit the facility quickly and efficiently.

Future plans for the old Greenleaf firehouse are under discussion. Joe Moore is talking to the Rogers Park Historical Society about possibly acquiring the station for a museum and offices.
