car-free development

Interesting article from London. Interesting concept. Perhaps we could try it here, especially with the I-Go car share location now at Gateway. Food for thought...

tonight's vigil

On Tuesday night, there was a shooting on my street. Ceasefire will hold a vigil tonight, March 30, for the victim, Clyde Flowers. He was a young man from the neighborhood who I never met.

The vigil will begin at 5:30 pm at Fargo and Ashland, where the incident took place, and will proceed around the block.

At 6:00 p.m. there will be a police roll call.

This was a young man, someone's son, someone's friend. We have very little information about the shooting. We don't yet know who the identity of the shooter or the motive.

Thanks to Ceasefire for this vigil and for their efforts to end gun violence in the neighborhood.

faux fur can be funny

[Not carrying my camera this a.m., so I'll leave the visual to your imagination.]

I was walking from River North into the Loop this morning and saw something that gave me a chuckle. A woman walking in the opposite direction was wearing a long, shaggy buff-colored faux fur coat. I couldn't decide which she resembled more - a petite blonde wookiee, or an absent-minded lady who forgot to take off her big fuzzy bathrobe when she left the house in the morning.

On Kafka

A few thoughts on Kafka seem appropriate on this loopy Friday. Wish I could take credit for writing this one, but I'm happy to share it.
