rethinking recycling

The recent news that the pilot recycling program started in a section of Beverly (separate cans and divided trucks) will be expanded to all of the 19th ward and several other wards is a good start. However, Chicago should really go further. Seattle is offering a tougher example. Some municipalities have started their recycling programs with programs like Seattle's, often with great success.

Chicago should aim higher. For now, we have a new, permanent recycling center for hazardous and electronic items. This city web page lists city recycling centers that can be used by any city resident.
