CTA construction

It's official. Construction on the Howard El station will be starting sometime soon. I noted earlier that I'd been seeing surveyors at work in and around the station. Today a CTA employee was handing out flyers to everyone going through the fare gates announcing the start of construction. There is signage to the same effect in the station. Construction trailers have appeared in the parking lot to the east of the station.

Things will undoubtedly get ugly for a while. I hope that it will turn out well - by 2009. This station should have been fully accessible years ago. Better late than never.
