bee madness - more

Does anyone else understand the current fascination with spelling bees as a subject for movies and musicals? Please enlighten me. I don't get it.

Mary Schmich had a funny piece in today's Trib on the subject.

I haven't seen any of the recent movie/musical madness, but I'd speculate that it's because so many of us competed in spelling bees, and want to relive that "legend in our own mind" moment. I can see it being mildly interesting, but I'm not rushing out to the show.

i would imagine that a movie about spelling bees will be filling some "just released" shelf space at blockbuster in no time flat.

Considering the company that produced the spelling bee movie, you'll be seeing the DVD's at........drumroll, cymbal crash....Starbucks.

Don - I'm guessing that you mean the most recent ("Akeelah") of the recent crop of spelling bee movies.

I'll be curious to see how long it lasts in the theaters. Not sure how long the others did.

You are correct. Senior moment. Couldn't remember the name of the movie. Too chicken to spell it. :)

I noticed a blown glass hummingbird feeder in today's Ace Hardware sale flyer. There's a bit of garden inspiration.
